the war-ravaged horn African nation, reliable sources indicate. Weapons that end up at the hands
of warlords and extremist groups are known to be bought from countries including Iran despite
senior officials from the both Somali and Iranian governments and renowned businessmen plays
vital part in the supply chain of the illicit weapons in a country that law has not been in function
for a quarter century.
This network have began operations in Somalia eight years back and they have been deploying
assorted weapons in the whole the country including Puntland and the Somalia’s self breakaway
state of Somaliland.

of commercial boats carrying up armaments have docked main Somali seaports in the last four
years to vend these arsenals.
Who and How
It was 2011 when Iran nationals reported to be part of the arsenal industry workers had infiltrated
to operate Somalia at that time they have stationed a residence that served former war lord and
the current President of Gal-Mudug regional administration, Abdi-qaybdiid.
In 2012 delegates led by Mr. Taghizadeh, an Iranian officer have paid official visit to localities
under Somaliland and Puntland administrations. These delegations have been engaged to look
over and find out arms dealing prospects in the region but pretended to have being carrying out
developmental projects in these regions.
.
There are a number of regional representatives, who are responsible to work with the network
to avoid any hinder to their arsenal supply chain from regional administrations, while first
arsenals comprising artilleries, guns, missiles and military hardware were imported in Hobyo and
Laasqorey seaports five years ago, reports confirm.
Arms transactions occur in Somali coasts at least twice in every year and unfortunate is that
no one is trying to avert it. There is official signed conformity which permits Iran to carry out
fishing in Somali Sea.
