Influx of al shabaab defectors gives up to Somali Security forces , says official
At least eleven al shabaab fighers and commanders gave up to the Somali security forces in the last three days , says official.
Abdikadir Sidi, governor of Lower Shabelle region said that the defectors responding amnesty from the Federal Government calling to the members of al shabaab to surrender within 45 day after their leader was killed in a US airstrike early of this Month at Barawe , a main stronghold of al shabaab in Lower Shabelle region.
“They are coming in one after one in the last three days and those who gave up include commander or Imams “ said Abdikadir Sidi.
Mohamed Haji Osman, the district commissoner of Qoryolei also said the fighter were defecting with their weapons .
“The weapon they dfected with include light and sometimes heavy weapon” said Osman.
Al shabaab did not comments on these developments suggesting the defections .
