PM Abdi-Wali wants peace progress in Mudug tensions amid Qaybdid accepts dialogue
Somali premier Abdi-wali Shekh Hassan has on Sunday sent an official
plea to Puntland and Gal-Mudug administrations to agree peace talks
following days of chaos between the neighboring states on Galkio local
airport.
Gal-Mudug leader Abdi Qaybdiid structured militia men to attack any
aircraft that jets Abdulahi Yusuf airport as the daily services of the
airport become halted in the last two days for security concerns.
The PM called both sides to discuss current disputes on table saying
dialogues can be achieved the recent rifts .Somali government is set
to find a lasting solution for this dispute. PM said in a statement.
“I urge both sides to put aside everything that could harm the peace
and stability of Galkacyo and to maintain the negotiation to be based
the resolving of the differences.” The PM added.
These conflicts become known, when Gal-Mudug regional state announced
the establishment of a new airport earlier this week, which Puntland
discarded. Reports from the Galkio indicate that Gal-Mudug president
has accepted to halt his belligerence on Abdulahi Yusuf’s airport.
