COVID-19: Somalia Records 6 New Deaths, 109 Cases
Somali Health Ministry on Tuesday confirmed 109 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of recorded cases to 9,437.
47 more people were recovered from the disease, hence the total number of recoveries is now at 4,306 according to the Ministery of Health.
Six people have succumbed to coronavirus in the country, the total number of fatalities now being 385.
The horn of the African Nation on Tuesday started the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out a day after the 300,000 of the AstraZeneca vaccines arrive in the country.
The exercise, targeting some 20 percent of the population amid a new surge in infections, saw President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo receive his COVID-19 vaccine a day after the arrival of 300,000 first batch of doses from COVAX.
The first batch of vaccines was given to the country’s frontline workers, the elderly and people with chronic health conditions, in an effort to reduce deaths and diseases caused by COVID-19.
