Somali president downplays the dismissal of spy chief
Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has rejected the decision by the cabinet on Sunday to dismiss national intelligence and security agency director Abdullahi Mohamed Ali.
According to sources close to presidential palace the unanimous cabinet decision on Sunday was uncalled for.
Other reports indicate that some MPs and cabinet members who are against the decision have also advised the president to overturn the cabinet ruling on Sunday.
Former Somali ambassador to the United Kingdom was appointed to the post after major reshuffle in Somali security agency following Al Shabaab attack on the Presidential Palace this year.
It is unclear the final decision which the president will take on the matter and how the relationship with his cabinet will be affected.
