PM Kheire pays courtesy call on Former President Hassan
Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheire on Saturday paid a courtesy call to former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at his residence in Mogadishu on Thursday night
The visit comes barely hours after Mr. Mohamud returned the country.
The former left the country for Turkey in February last year after lost 2017 Presidential elections to the incumbent president Mohamed Abdullah Farmajo.
Details of the closed-door meeting were scanty but a brief statement says the two leaders discussed the situation of the country.
The former President has commended the Somali government for efforts to improve the economy of the country, security and the war on Al-Shabaab fighters.
Hassan Sheikh Mohamud lost last year’s presidential poll to the incumbent president Mohamed Abdullah Farmajo.
Mr. Mohamud was a university lecturer and civil activist before he entered Somali politics in 2011.
In 2012, he was elected as Somali president and served the office until last year when he lost February 8 elections held at a hanger in Mogadishu International Airport.
