The Puntland Media Fraternity shares the sorrow, grief and pain with family, Journalism and public relations colleagues of the late Mohamed Adan Hersi (Terra). A non-conflicted veteran Journalist and one of the founding fathers of the Media Association of Puntland (MAP), may the almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace.
Chair Mohamed Dahir Warsame and Nasra Abdirizak and General Secretary of the Media Association of Puntland (MAP) said in a joint statement the Mohamed Aden Hersi “Terra” death is a tragic news to us and a national loss to the Somalia Media Fraternity and the global audience who benefited from the variety news production the deceased produced during his tenure working with both local and international media.
“It is important that we follow the blueprint that Terra left us and be sure to open doors and advocate for others as he did,” said MAP chair in a statement of condolence to the late’s Family.
The Late Mohamed’s illustrious career as journalists started on the 1st July 1973 at the Radio Mogadishu serving as a broadcast journalist, an associate producer, and later headed the foreign affairs news department of radio Mogadishu. In 1979, he was appointed the Head of Radio Mogadishu and later became the Director for the Somali National News Agency (SONNA). Terra served the Somali State Media until the fall of the Siad Barre’s central Government in early 90s.
Terra in the years 2009 to 2016 worked with ETN, Universal TV, and Puntland TV respectively. Programs produced by the deceased that will always be remembered among others are the ”history of the salt factory (2015), ”History of the Guardafoi (2015)” and the famous programs of the FACE-to-FACE that was featured in the Universal TV.
The MAP office bearers extend their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that may Allah in His mercy grant the late Mohamed Aden Hersi ‘’Terra’’ a place in paradise. Educing his invaluable services in the field of journalism, they prayed for eternal peace and fortitude to the bereaved family.
