Two people were killed in a violent demonstrations in Baidoa
Two people were killed and ten others injured in a violent demonstrations in Baidoa on Tuesday during the opening ceremony of a recoinciliation Conference on establishing South West regional State in Baidoa.
The riots started during the arrival of the Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud in Baidoa to attend the opening ceremony of the conference, said Madoobe Nunow.
On his arrival to Baidoa , the security was tightened amid protests by supporters of the Prseident of the renounced South West State comprising six regions including Bay , Bakol, lower Jubba , Middle Shabelle. Lower Shabelle and Gedo.
“Government soldiers launch attack against our supporters firing live ammunition killing two of them”said Nunow .
During the ceremony Madobe Nunow and some his former officials were encircled by the security forces in Baidoa, as said by local reporters in Baidoa .
The situation in Baidoa is tense as the conference goes on in vacinty of ADC in Baidoa.
