Somaliland president makes cabinet reshuffle again
-Somaliland’s president reshuffled his cabinet over again, filling vacant positions two weeks after he made a brief cabinet reshuffle. At one level, the changes saw some ministers being replaced while others took new roles.
The president’s reshuffle move comes one week after officials and a key minister resigned from their positions in a protest of his previous cabinet reshuffle. In his previous reshuffle, president Ahmed Silanyo has replaced security chiefs and ministerial directors in what the government described as Public service ‘improvement’ move.
In the latest reshuffle, the president appointed new ministers, state ministers, ministerial directors and the central bank’s governor. He also fired three other senior officials in his government.
The president appointed the following ministers
1)- Prof. Farah Ilmi Mohamud, the education minister
2)- Shuaib Mohamed Muse, the industrial minister
3)- Mohamed Ow Dahir, the agriculture minister
4)-mMohamed Farah Duale, the mineral and energy minister
5)- Abdisalam Mohamed Hassan, the water minister
6)- Yusuf Ahmed Ali, the general director for the health ministry
7)-Abdillahi Jama, the central bank governor
8)- Osman Abdulahi Hirad, the deputy director for the Hargeisa water agency
9)- Warsame Farah Ibrahim, the deputy governor for Howd region
Somaliland, a breakaway region in northern Somalia has escaped Somalia’s two decades civil war. Despite lacking an international recognition, Somaliland considers itself as an independent state after it declared a unilateral independence from the rest of Somalia in 1991, employing its own government and army.
