Somalia (Puntland): United Arab Emirates Attempts to Prevent Local Communities from Building Their Own Sea Ports.

Reports from the coastal town of Garacad in Mudug region say that a plane carrying a delegation from, the United Arab Emirates has been forced to return from there today.

Witnesses said residents sponsored and arranged themselves and took control of the airport and refused the plane carrying the UAE delegation including government officials from Puntland to land.

Various reports are circulating about the purpose of the UAE delegation’s visit.

Residents also say they saw a large number of Puntland Marines in the town this morning.

There is no official feedback yet from the government on the matter.
