Somali & Kenya Discuss Bilateral Trade Relations
Somalia and Kenyan on Wednesday discussed the efforts to re-establishment diplomatic ties between the two Eastern African countries.
Somali Foreign Affairs Minister said he held a phone conversation with Kenya counterpart Amb Raychelle Omaml and termed the A the talks “productive”.
”Pleased to have had a productive phone conversation with CS @ForeignOfficeKE, Amb Raychelle Omamo. We affirmed the need to reestablish amicable diplomatic relations and reopen our embassies in Nairobi and Mogadishu. We also discussed strengthening our bilateral relations,” Somali Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamed Abdirizak.RELATED POSTS
The ministers expressed high hopes for improving trade and security ties between Somalia and Kenya.
The two countries did not specify whether the terms of the agreement included the resumption of the Khat trade, which was one of the main obstacles to bilateral relations.
Talks between the two countries come as direct flights between Somalia and Kenya resumed this week after a hiatus last month.
