Six Killed In Roadside Blast In Mogdisho Capital
At least 5 people were killed several others wounded including a mother and her child after car bomb attack in Mogadishu’s Daynile district suspected to have been targeting Deynile district secretary Mahad Sharawe on Saturday.
Deynile district official Abdikadir Ali Faraade who spoke to the media said the district secretary Mahad Sharawe escaped unscathed after an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded on a vehicle that they were traveling in.
The latest blast is part of a series of similar bombings in Mogadishu that have killed several government officials in the recent past.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack by Al-Qaeda linked group Al-Shabaab have carried out similar attacks in the past.
The militant group is fighting to topple the internationally recognized central government over a decade.
The al-Qaida linked group was driven out of the capital, Mogadishu, in 2011, but the militants are still hiding in the rural areas of those regions conducting ambushes and planting landmines
