Jubbaland state President Ahmed Islam Madobe has met with U.S Africa Command (AFRICOM) commander Gen. Stephen Townsend in the coastal city of Kismayo.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen the fight against Al-Shabaab in collaboration to accelerate the operations against terrorism.
”Had a fruitful discussion with @USAfricaCommand Gen. Stephen Townsend today when he visited Kismayo. Discussions focused cooperation on the fight against Shabaab and how we can expand efforts to eradicate terror threats to the region,” said Jubaland leader in a Twitter post.RELATED POSTS
A fortnight in the past after US Africom military officials met and held talks with Madobe.
The U.S. removed its troops from Somalia early this year.
The number of U.S. military personnel in Somalia ranged from 650 to 800 people. U.S. troops supported and mentored an elite Somali unit known as the Danab “lightning” brigade.
