Hunger kills three in lower jubba region
At least three people confirmed to have died due to hunger in a result of severe drought in Afmadow outskirts as the famine affected a large scale of people living around lower jubba region. The victims include two children and one aged person according to Mohamed Abdi Sura a local resident, who spoke to media.
He stated that most people in the area fled to Middle jubba region seeking water and other humanitarian assistance saying aid agencies should lend a help to the affected areas despite Diif and Deg-elmaa villages are among the worst areas recorded.
There have been confirmed reports indicate, that local clan disputes has been fueling the crisis amid juba land administration was working its utmost efforts to help the venerable people in it’s regions.
Several times top UN humanitarian delegations have paid visit to Kismaayo city, the administrative capital of Jubba interim state as they addressed the recently reported drought in the horn of African nation.
Jubbaland president Ahmed Mohamed Islam has distributed $50,000 fund to the deprived people in the state, which is intended to shrink current crisis and called international aid charities for more support.
