Senior security officials from Galmudug and Puntland administrations met in Galkayo and agreed to cooperate in military offensives against the militant group Al-Shabaab.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Puntland and Galmudug Ministers for Security, Abdisamad Mohamed Galan and Ahmed Moallin Fiqi said the two administrations agreed to enhance their security cooperation and launch joint military operations against Al-Shabaab and the anti-peace elements in the region.
The meeting comes barely days after the militant group Al-Shabaab seized control of the small town of Ba’adweyne in Galmudug following the withdrawal of the Somali National Armed Forces from the area.
