Fighting in El-Garas of Galgudud region in central Somalia claims at least 13 people.
Fighting in El-Garas of Galgudud region overnight between government forces and AMISOM against al shabaab claims at least 13 people injuring more others, say residents.
“It was a heavy figting and fire exchange was heard from long distances “ said Mohamed Ahmed , a resident who spoke to Somalireport24 by the telephone.
Mohamed Diriye , district commissioner of El-Garas speaking to a local radio station in Mogadishu said that the fighting erupted after al shabaab fighters launched attacks on government forces and AMISOM bases.
“They (al shabaab ) was repulsed and defeated and 10 of their fighters were shot dead “ said Diiriye.
On the other side Al shabaab officials said they advanced government and AMISOM lines claiming that they briefly overtook El-Garas.
They were no independent sources to confirm these claims from the two warring sides.
