At least two people have died and five others wounded on Thursday in a mortar attack in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
Somali police say five mortar rounds had landed into a residential house nearby Halane camp where United Nations, African Union and other foreign diplomatic offices located.
In a statement, the police said an operation to hunt down the culprits had started.
The attack killed a father and his son while five other injured people – all from same family were taken into a nearby hospital.
Somali armed group al Shabaab has claimed responsibility for Thursday’s rocket attack.
al Shabaab, an al Qaeda linked group has been battling African Union troops and the Mogadishu-based-government for more than ten year.
The insurgent group has lost major towns to Somali army and African Union troops, but it still holds large swaths in south of the country.
Earlier this month, the group has carried out the same attack on UN compound in Mogadishu.
