Ceasefire prevails in Guri’el-says Mediation Committee

Speaking on Mogadishu-based radio station, elder Dahir Moallim Farah noted that AhluSunnah militias and Somali government forces agreed to ceasefire plan prior to the anticipated arrival of delegation led by Defence Minister Abdulkadir Sheikh Ali Diini. Farah added that the paramilitary group of AhluSunnah is in control of Guri’el while government troops are being stationed at temporary positions near the town. Diini is set to spearhead the remaining mediation efforts, sources revealed. Former Galmudug leader Mohamed Ahmed Alim last week stepped in to defuse and de-escalate armed tensions.
