Ahmed Madobe allocates funds for drought victims
The president of the interim administration of Juba land regional state of Somalia Sheikh Ahmed Madobe Islam has pledged more $ US 50,000 to support victims of drought in the area.
Speaking to the media in the port city of Kismayu former Raskamboni brigade commander has said the funds will be mainly used for the delivery of food and water to the affected areas.
He said a special committee was put in place to facilitate the process of aid delivery to the victims while responding to emergency issues resulted by the severe drought.
Mr. Madobe move comes as the president of federal government of Somalia called upon the international community to help his government respond to more than 3.2 victims of drought in the country.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was speaking at 69th United Nation general assembly meeting in New York on Friday.
