The Puntland Administration last night issued calls for peace following renewed clan clashes in Dhabar-dalool settlement in Sool region.
Vice President Ahmed Elmi Osman in a statement called for an unconditional ceasefire and urged involved parties to work on peaceful coexistence.
“We call on the warring clans in Dhabar Dalool settlement of Sool region to unconditionally stop the armed conflict in the area, and work on how to achieve a lasting solution to this recurrent conflict that has repeatedly caused deaths and injuries” the statement reads in part.RELATED POSTS
The vice president said that he was saddened by the shedding of the blood in this holy month of Ramadan, describing it as un-Islamic.
“It is very regrettable that in this holy month of Ramadan we shed the blood of a fasting Muslim, this contravenes the teachings of our good religion” He added.
The VP called on traditional leaders and elders to put more efforts in conflict resolution in the region to avert future bloodshed.
