Somali intelligence announces financial reward on the head of Al shabaab leader, and the Ministry of Justice did not approve yet
The new director general of Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Col. Abdirahman Mohamed Turyare has promised to reward $US 2 million on anybody who provides information leading to the arrest of Al Shabaab militant group leader Ahmed Dirie , known as Ahmed Omar Abu Ubeidah, Ahmed Omar, Ahmed Dere and Mahad Omar Abdikarim.
Col. Turyare has also guaranteed to reward $ US 1 million for any one who gives information that would lead to the killing of the Al Qaida linked leader in the country while assuring to hide the identities of the informers.
This is the first time Somali government official particularly in the security sector has pledged a huge bounty on Al Shabaab leader dead or a live.
This press statement, which did not authorize yet from the Ministry of Justice and Council of Ministers, it as a proposal from the Somali intelligence service.
On June 2012 the US state department has placed seven top leaders of the Somalia-based Al-Shabaab armed group on its wanted list for the first time, offering up to $33m for tip-offs to aid the hunt for the men.
A $7m bounty was placed on Al-Shabaab founder Ahmed Abdi aw-Muhamed “Godane” and a further $5m was offered for other members – Ibrahim Haji Jama Mead ” Afghani”, Fuad Mohamed Khalaf ” Shongole”, Bashir Mohamed Mahamoud and Mukhtar Robow Ali ” Abu Mansur”.
