Preliminary talks between the federal government and regional state leaders has resumed on Wednesday in Mogadishu.
Villa Somalia communications director Abdirashid Abdi said the meeting between the FGS and FMS will be converging today for the second round of initial talks.
On Tuesday the international partners urged the Somali leaders to resolve the electoral stalemate ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
”We urge FGS and FMS leaders to use this opportunity to resolve their differences and make the necessary compromises in order to ensure that credible, timely, and peaceful elections can be held without further delay to allow Somalia to move forward.”
The Horn of Africa nation was scheduled missed a deadline to hold its parliamentary elections which were due to begin as agreed upon by the government and the regional states in September 2020.
