Jubbaland President appeals for urgent aid amid drought
Juba interim state President Ahmed Mohamed Islam has called international and local aid agencies to deliver food and other humanitarian assistances to the drought affected people in Kismaayo outskirts, the administrative capital of Juba administration.
Speaking at State-run reconciliation conference in the capital, the president stated that drought has already affected over 1 million people in the region amid most of them are vulnerable residents.
Aid agencies should come up with support initiatives in this rigid time because people are on the brink to die for hunger the president say. People in the region started to run away due to acute drought hit in the country’s southern regions.
United Nations and the Somali federal government severally issued warnings on the drought. SNA backing by AMISOM forces achieved to reopen blocked roads after heavy clashes with Al-shabaab fighters in the last two weeks.
