Somali President in Kismayu for peace meeting
Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has reached the southern port city of Kismayu to join his interior minister Abdullahi Godah to attend peace and reconciliation meeting aimed at bringing together the warring communities in the larger Juba land regional state of Somalia.
The president was welcomed by officials from interim Juba land administration when he touched down at Kismayu international airport.
The security of the city was heightened to avoid any attacks from armed group Al Shabaab which are still in control of the neighboring areas.
Representatives from IGAD, UN AND EU are also expected to attend the peace conference.
Former defense minister and war lord general Bare Hirale has recently agreed peace talks with interim administrations in the area after more than one year standoff with Ahmed Madobe administration.
The federal government of Somalia is involved in peace and reconciliation in an effort to return peace and stability in the country however several important Somali figures have criticized government policy towards the plan.
