President who reached the through land was received by lawmakers, ministers of Djibouti government, traditional elders, religious leaders and civil society from all walks.
“I visited the city of #Arta in #Djibouti today. This is a city that restored our hopes in talks towards unity and integration in the year 2000. It is a city that we shall remain indebted to” the president said in post on twitter account.
He held talks with leaders, local elders and people from all walks in the city. Emphasizing the importance of Arta town to Somali people, president Farmajo said the people and the government of Djibouti have responded in a unique manner demonstrating solidarity with the people of Somalia at a time of distress.
“We thank the people of Djibouti especially the people of Arta city for the goodwill support and solidarity to Somali people a time when the world has failed to notice” the president said.
In April-May 2000, Transitional National government was established in a peace conference held Arta town of Djibouti. Abdiqasim Salad Hassan was elected as the president of Transitional National Government ( TNG).
