Deadly clashes erupt in south Somalia
Heavy clashes broke out between two armed farmers in areas under Somalia’s lower Shabelle region, killing dozens, on Tuesday night, according to local residents.
The clashes are reported to have erupted at Cumar-berre and other urban areas under lower Shabelle region over farming land ownership, a resident told Shabelle Media in Mogadishu by phone on Tuesday.
An elder, who asked to be unnamed for security reason, told Shabelle Media via phone from the town that tensions between both warring sides were running high in the town.
The exact casualties resulted from the clashes are yet to be established but villagers who spoke to Shabelle Media said that dozens from both armed farmers were killed and injured during the skirmishes.
