Jubaland president meets with UAE ambassador to Somalia(+photos)
Kismayo,10th March 2015. Jubaland president Ahmed Mohamed Islam today met with an UAE delegation led by Mohamed Ahmed Othman ,UAE ambassador to Somalia at Kismayo presidential palace.After the meeting the two sides held a joint media briefing at Kismayo state house.
During the press briefing,president Ahmed madobe thanked the UAE government over its support to Somalia stating that their discussion focussed on security,development programmes and economy.
‘‘We discussed on ways in which the UAE government can help the remaining institutional building process such as the parliament,’’ said president Ahmed madobe.
On his part,the UAE ambassador extended thanks to the Jubaland president for the warm welcome accorded to him noting that his government will initiate development projects in Jubaland.
During the visit,the ambassador and his delegation visited Kismayo’s seaport- the economic hub of Jubaland before flying back to Mogadishu.
The ambassador’s visit to Kismayo comes months after a delegation led by Jubaland president Ahmed madobe paid an official visit to Abu Dhabi late last year. During that visit the two sides signed various co-operation agreement in which the UAE government pledged to help Jubaland in the field of security and development programmes.
